Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday inaugurated the second state-of-the-art radiotherapy unit at the cancer care center at Guwahati Health City Hospital.
Assam’s Minister of Health, Keshab Mahanta, was also present on the occasion. “I am sure this will be very helpful for patients suffering from cancer and related diseases. Our government is working hand in hand with the private sector to prevent cancer cases in Assam and North East region” , Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media.
Commenting on the rapid increase in the number of cancer patients in Assam, the CMD of the hospital, Dr Bhabananda Das said that Assam has the highest number of cancer cases among all the northern states -is.
Sarma, all ministers and principal secretaries from various state government departments will attend the three-day Chintan Shivir which is due to start today.
During the brainstorming session, the state government will discuss the ongoing activities of the departments. Departmental plans and roadmap for the next five years are likely to be prepared in the shivir.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living and Sadhguru will participate in the Chintan Shivir, along with the chief secretaries of the various states.
Sadhguru will participate in Chintan Shivir today and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of Art of Living will participate on September 25th.
The decision to hold the three-day shivir was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister in August this year.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the inaugural session of Chintan Shivir at around 2 p.m.
All ministers, MPs from BJP and its allied parties would likely attend the Chintan Shivir. (ANI)
