Dole VA Hosts Healthcare Enrollment Lounge at Hays

Submitted

Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is hosting an event to help veterans living in Northwest Kansas understand the VA services available to them, register for VA health care, and begin the process of filing for disability claims.

“There are nearly 2,000 veterans in Northwest Kansas who are not enrolled in VA health care,” said Jeff Herndon, public affairs manager for Dole VA. “Nearly half of them reside in Ellis County. Our goal is to ensure that veterans receive all the benefits they have earned, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to enroll.

The outreach event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 at VFW Post 9706, 2106 Vine in Hays.

Representatives from the Dole VA Health Benefits Department, the Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA) and Veterans Service Organizations (VSO) Service Officers will be available throughout the designated period to process actions.

Veterans should bring a copy of their DD-214 and most recent tax return to expedite registration and claims. Dependents and family members of veterans are also encouraged to attend.

Questions can be directed to the Dole VA Outreach Coordinator at 316-685-2221 (toll-free 1-888-878-6881), ext. 53486.
