We Tried Kim Kardashian’s Fat Burning Treatment and We Wanted More

I’m not the type of person to go on fad diets or fast-paced treatments to help shift the weight off my bulging belly. But I had to try and see what this new body shaping technology used by Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez did.

So, in true Sam style, I dragged my butt off the sofa and went to VL Aesthetics in Kingmoor, Carlisle, which is the first in the North of England to invest in the Emsculpt Neo.

This treatment, of which you need four sessions, is supposed to be equivalent to doing 20,000 sit-ups. I don’t think I could handle 20 even less.

For context, I’m very happy with how I look. I know I would need to move a few stones, but like I said, I’m happy. I’m what I like to call a big, fit person. But back to fat burning, I’ve always been cynical about these types of treatments, believing it’s all about balance. I’ve never tried a treatment like this before, so I really didn’t know what to expect.

When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely receptionist, who gave me a form to fill out and directed me to the seating area where I could help myself to a drink from the fridge. I think at this point I was getting a little nervous but the receptionist came over and chatted and apologized that the previous appointment was a little over so mine was going to be a little late.

At this point, it was my chance to escape and not be a guinea pig for this treatment. I did not move. A few minutes later, Joanne came to pick me up and explained to me what was going to happen.

I only had one treatment, but four are recommended. She explained that it is a whole new approach to body shaping that uses radio frequency heating for fat reduction and high intensity focused electromagnetic energy for muscle strengthening and toning.

The procedure is simple and easy, and the device can be applied to the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms or calves. Using it for a 30-minute session is equivalent to doing 20,000 sit-ups. As I lay on the bed I was told that they normally take all your measurements to monitor your progress and see if the treatment is working well.

She tied me up and told me how I’m going to feel it throbbing in my stomach but it won’t hurt and she’ll be looking for a contraction. The paddle was attached to the belt and it started. I don’t really know how to explain what I felt, but I’ll do my best.

At first it was kind of like waves, that feeling when someone rocks your belly and it’s not nice but you don’t hate it. As she moved up the radio frequency, I could feel it in a place that I don’t think had ever contracted. The pulsation alternates with different intensities but you don’t feel it on the surface it was deep inside of me I don’t know if I felt it so deeply because of the extra chub I have but it was pleasant.

After a few minutes, Joanne explained to me how I had reached the highest level and the program got to work. The treatment should result in less fat and more muscle, for less time and less money. It lasted about half an hour and it was relaxing in a weird way. I have been told to drink plenty of fluids as this will help it function. I was also told not to do anything strenuous for the next eight hours.

I didn’t mind that a relaxing night with my book was exactly what I needed after 20,000 sit-ups. I could feel something but not much if I’m being honest. That was until Monday, I have my big coat that fits although it is a little tight, but when I put it on it fits me. Now I can’t say for sure that was the cure as it can take up to three months to show up. But I felt different.

For all four treatments it can cost around £1200 which is a lot but as I have calculated in my head if it really makes as big of a difference as it claims it would mean a lot of time and expense. energy saved for this price. Would I have the other three treatments? If I’m honest I think I would, it was a lovely place and I was so relaxed. Also, if it helps get rid of my wobbly bits, that must be a bonus.

Vanessa Brown, Managing Director of VL Aesthetics, said, “A lot of celebrities use Emsculpt Neo and, well, if it’s good enough for JLo, it’s good enough for me.”
